Ornamentation

Lifting a finger gradually in order to "glide" from one note to the next; Though a common technique in several piping traditions, it is quite distinctly present in Irish piping, but unfortunately this style is too often improperly used by players of other traditions to which it traditionally was, and in my opinion often still ought to be, foreign; ➺ Popping.

NB: In Romanian Cimpoi playing the end of a melody is traditionally announced with a very slow slide, produced by the finger controlling the dominant.
