Scanu, Vincenzo

?-? [19th century]

piper (&c.) mentioned by name

[Born and?] lived in Sanluri (prov. Medio Campidano); After having bought a Launeddas at the Saint Anthony feast of July 29, 1837 in Tuili [NNE of Sanluri], he returned home, proud of his purchase, but entering his village, a fellow citizen told him that he had better buy a pair of pants, to which he answered "When I play, you remain open-mouthed, if you are not stupid", thus sending the man on a rampage, so much so that he tried to hit Scanu with a knife, fortunately without success.

Instrument: Launeddas (Launeḍḍas)
